Viewing Configuration Information in SOLIDWORKS

From the SOLIDWORKS Task pane, you can view configuration information for Workgroup PDM files without opening them.

To view configuration information:

  1. In the Task Pane vault view, right-click a document and click Document Information.
  2. In the dialog box, to see configuration-specific comments, click the Configuration tab.

    Information about the model's configurations appears in the following columns:

    • Name. Lists the name of the configuration.
    • Alt Name. Lists alternate names for the configurations.
    • Comment. Lists the comments specified in the Configuration Properties PropertyManager in SOLIDWORKS.
    You can save the contents of the list to a text file by clicking Output to File.

  3. To view additional information about a specific configuration, do one of the following:
    • Double-click the configuration on the Configuration tab and click another tab.
    • Click another tab and select the configuration from the Config list.
You can also view configuration-specific previews by right-clicking a document in the vault view, clicking Preview Window, and selecting the configuration to view.
