Closed Corner PropertyManager

To close a corner:

  1. Create a sheet metal part that includes the area you want to close off.

    For example, you can use the closed corner feature to close off the open space between the adjacent, angled edge flanges.

  2. Click Closed Corner Tool_Closed_Corner_Sheet_Metal.gif (Sheet Metal toolbar) or Insert > Sheet Metal > Closed Corner.

  3. Select one or more planar faces for Faces to Extend PM_face_plane.gif.

    The SOLIDWORKS software attempts to find the Faces to Match PM_face_plane.gif.

    If matching faces are not found, you can manually select the Faces to Extend and Faces to Match.
    Auto propagation is automatically cleared if you clear or delete any selections under Faces to Extend or Faces to Match. You can turn it on again manually.

  4. Select a Corner type:
    • Butt PM_Butt.gif
    • Overlap PM_Overlap.gif
    • Underlap corner_sm_underlap.png Button

    Front corner_type_butt_front.gif corner_type_over_front.gif corner_type_under_front.gif

  5. Set a value for Gap distance PM_Gap_Distance.gif.

  6. Set a value for Overlap/underlap ratio PM_Overlap-underlap_ratio.gif.
  7. Select or clear:
    Option Description
    Open bend region Preview is not displayed when selected.

    Open bend region selected Open bend region cleared
    Coplanar faces Applies the closed corner to all faces that are coplanar to the selected face.

    Coplanar faces selected Coplanar faces cleared
    Narrow corner Uses the algorithm for large bend radii to narrow the gap in the bend area.
  8. Click PM_OK.gif.
