Measuring Entities

To measure entities, measure must be enabled. If the Measure tool is visible, the file is measure-enabled.

To enable measurement, publish or save the file from your CAD application with Okay to measure this eDrawings file selected.

To measure entities:

  1. Click Measure or Tools > Measure.
  2. On the Measure pane, choose Selection Filters, and specify Units.
  3. Select entities in the graphics area.

    Entities are displayed in red to indicate they will be selected if you click the mouse.

    Results appear in callouts in the graphics area.

  4. To release the Measure tool, click it, click Select tool_Select_Arrow.gif, or press Esc.

    The measurements disappear. Measurements are not saved with the file. To create markup dimensions to save, see Dimensions.

Selection Filters

Select one or more filters. If no filters are selected, you can select any measurable entity in the graphics area.

tool_Filt_Vertices_SelFilter.gif Select Vertex
tool_Filt_Holes_SelFilter.gif Select Hole

Units

Specify Distance and Angle units. Measurements are converted to the selected units.

Results

Results are displayed with:

  • Type (Distance, Delta X, Arc Length, etc.)
  • Value
  • Units
