Recognizing Hole Wizard Holes

FeatureWorks supports automatic and interactive recognition of these Hole Wizard features:
  • Counterbore, Countersink, and Tap (ANSI Metric standard only)
  • Pipe tap (ISO standard only)
  • Generic Hole (all standards)

All other types of Hole Wizard holes are recognized as Hole Wizard Legacy type holes.

To recognize Hole Wizard holes, FeatureWorks must be able to reference the SOLIDWORKS Toolbox’s swbrowser.mdb file. For example, if you reference a shared toolbox on a network, you must be connected to that network to be able to recognize Hole Wizard holes using FeatureWorks.

Step-by-Step. FeatureWorks supports step-by-step recognition of all standards and all types of Hole Wizard holes contained in a model (not in an imported body).

Re-recognition. During the recognition process, you can re-recognize:
  • Hole and Legacy Hole Wizard holes as cut revolves or cut extrudes and vice versa.
  • Counterbore Hole Wizard holes as cut revolves and vice versa.
  • Countersink, Tap, and Pipe Tap Hole Wizard holes as cut revolves and vice versa.

FeatureWorks cannot re-recognize legacy holes as Hole Wizard holes. You must select Recognize hole as wizard holes under Advanced Controls in the FeatureWorks Options dialog box to enable Hole Wizard hole recognition.
