Settings Dialog Box - External References Tab

Use the External References tab to specify vault folders for the SOLIDWORKS PDM software to search when handling external file references.

When you check in CAD files that contain references, SOLIDWORKS PDM looks for referenced files in the paths returned by the file type. The check in command also searches the folders added to External References tab for referenced files.

The folders added are not searched recursively. Note that adding many folders may cause check in to operate slower in the file vault.

To display the Settings dialog box:

Double-click Settings or right-click Settings and select Open. Click the External References tab.

Select file vault Select an additional vault to search for referenced files.
Extra directories Click Add to select folders to search for external references.
