Setting the Latest Version Option

You can change your settings so that each time you open a file in SOLIDWORKS PDM, you use the latest version in the vault.

If you do not set this option, when you open a file in Explorer, SOLIDWORKS PDM opens your local copy of the file without checking to see whether a more recent version is available in the archive.

To set the latest version option:

  1. Select Tools > Administration from File Explorer.
  2. Expand the Users directory.
  3. Right-click your user name and select Settings.
  4. In the left pane of the Settings dialog box, click Reference Dialog.
  5. Under Check out and version access controls, select Auto select reference files to get latest when check out and Always work with latest version of files.
  6. Click OK.
