You can use an Excel spreadsheet to provide child values in conditional lists instead of typing a list of values.
To assign child values using a spreadsheet:
- Open the Property Tab Builder.
- To create a parent control, from the left column, drag a Radio button, Checkbox, or List control into a GroupBox control in the Custom Properties column.
- Set the Control Attributes for the parent control.
- Type a Caption.
- Select a Name.
- For radio buttons, select a Quantity to specify the number of radio buttons for the control. You must have at least two radio buttons.
For check boxes, set the default state.
-
Select whether the property will be written to the Custom
tab or the Configurations
tab of the Summary Information dialog box.
- Drag a List box below the parent control.
- For the list box control:
- Type a Caption.
-
For Parent, click and select the parent control.
The attributes of the parent control are included in the
Custom Property Attributes of the list box control.
For example, if the parent control is a set of radio buttons, the radio buttons are listed. If the parent control is a check box, the check box states are listed.
- Under Custom Property Attributes, for Type, select Excel File.
- For Path, specify the path to the spreadsheet or use the browse button to search for the file.
-
For Range, specify the sheet and cells that contain the values for each parent option.
For example, if the parent control is two radio buttons, to associate the values in cells A3 through A5 on Sheet1 with the first radio button, type Sheet1(A3:A5).
Under the second radio button, specify the sheet and cells that contain the values associated with that radio button.
- Save the template.
- Close the Property Tab Builder dialog box.
