Protect Intellectual Property

You can use Include/exclude features on the Content Manager to protect intellectual property in two ways.

Defeature (SOLIDWORKS 2011 and later) enables removal of details and components that may represent intellectual property. If Defeature is defined for a model in SOLIDWORKS 2011 or later, setting Features to Excluded enables the Defeature properties prior to download. If Defeature properties are not defined in a model, setting Features to Excluded will still help protect intellectual property by saving the model as an external surface model prior to download.

To enable predefined Defeature schemes or make models featureless:
  1. Select the models from the Content Manager by checking their selection boxes.
  2. Click Include/exclude features.

No features appears in the Features are included column when you specify the download as featureless.

Selecting a model that is featureless (No features in the Features are included column and clicking Include/exclude features again reverts the model to featured (Model includes features in the Features are included column).
