Saving Files as Executable Files

You can save files as self-extracting eDrawings executable (*.exe) files that contain the eDrawings Viewer and the eDrawings file. To extract the embedded eDrawings Viewer and open the embedded eDrawings file, run the eDrawings executable file. The eDrawings Viewer can open all supported file types.

When you use Save As to create .exe files from eDrawings x64, a message in the dialog box notifies you that the file will run on 64-bit systems only.

To save files as eDrawings executable files:

  1. Click File > Save As.
  2. Set Save as type to eDrawings Executable Files (*.exe).
  3. Select from the export options.
  4. Type the File name, then click Save.

Running eDrawings Executable Files

To run the eDrawings executable file:

In Windows Explorer, double-click the eDrawings executable file.
The embedded eDrawings Viewer opens and displays the embedded eDrawings file. The eDrawings Viewer used is the same version that was embedded with the executable. You can use this eDrawings Viewer to view other documents.
When you close the eDrawings application launched from an eDrawings executable file, if eDrawings is not installed on that computer, a message prompts you to install eDrawings. The prompt appears every fifth time you exit the eDrawings application launched from the executable file.
