Use the Rebuild Vault option to rebuild vault metadata from key base files.
- Log in to the Workgroup PDM vault as a user with administrator privileges.
- On the Vault Settings tab, under Vault Lock, click Locked to lock all users out of the vault.
- Do one of the following:
- To rebuild the vault the next time the vault service is started, on the Vault Management tab, under On next startup, click Rebuild Vault.
Optionally, select one or all of the following:
Rename log |
Saves and clears the vault log file. A new log is created for the rebuild process, named using the dat and time of the rebuild. The log contains changes made as part of the rebuild. |
Refresh latest folders |
Applies the Global setting Keep extra copy of latest files. |
Rebuild catalog |
Removes the existing Microsoft Indexing Service catalog and creates a new one. With large vaults, rebuilding the catalog can take a long time.

- To rebuild the vault immediately, click Rebuild Now.
You are warned that the vault will shut down and clients will be unable to access it.
- Click Yes to continue.
The VaultAdmin tool closes and you are notified that the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Server service is being stopped and restarted.
- When prompted, log in again to restart the VaultAdmin tool.
- On the Vault Settings tab, under Vault Lock, ensure that Unlocked is selected.
- On the Search tab, under SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Catalog Status, click Refresh to update the catalog information.
