Editing Library Features

You can change which features are included as part of a library feature in the library feature part document (.sldlfp).

To add another feature:

Right-click the feature to add, and select Add To Library.

To remove a feature:

Right-click the feature, and select Remove From Library.

You can edit an existing library feature and save it with a new name (and .sldlfp extension) to create additional, similar library features.

After the library feature is inserted into a part, you can edit a library feature in the following ways:
  • Use the same techniques that you would use to edit any SOLIDWORKS feature, such as Edit Sketch or Edit Feature.
  • Move the library feature to a different location on the target part, by modifying the locating dimensions. Double-click the library feature icon in the FeatureManager design tree to display the dimensions.
Edit References No References Notes

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree, expand the library feature.
  2. Right-click the feature, and select Edit Sketch.
Before you edit the sketch, click View and clear Sketch Relations. This facilitates using the Smart Dimension Tool_Smart_Dimensions_Relations.gif tool.
Placement Plane symbol_yes_check.gif symbol_yes_check.gif Changing the placement plane for a library feature may cause errors that require editing the references or the library feature sketch.
Configurations symbol_yes_check.gif symbol_yes_check.gif Right-click the library feature, select Edit Feature, and under Configurations, select a different configuration.

When the configuration referenced by a library feature is changed, the original library part is reloaded, so that any modifications made to the library part are included with the change.
