Sheet Metal Gusset PropertyManager

Use the Sheet Metal Gusset PropertyManager to create sheet metal gussets with specific indents across bends.

To open the Sheet Metal Gusset PropertyManager, click Sheet Metal Gusset tool_shm_gusset.png (Sheet Metal toolbar) or Insert > Sheet Metal > Sheet Metal Gusset.

Position

Shhet_metal_gusset_bend_face Supporting faces Specifies the bend along which the gusset is created by selecting a cylindrical bend face or two flat faces that are adjacent to the cylindrical bend face.

The selected faces must belong to a single bend. You cannot select faces that belong to several bends.
  Reference line Sets the linear edge or sketch segment that controls the orientation of the gusset section plane.

The gusset section plane is perpendicular to the selected edge or sketch segment.

  Reference point Sets the sketch point, vertex, or reference point to be used to locate the gusset section plane.

The offset value you specify is measured from this reference point.

  Offset Offsets the gusset from the selected reference point.
flip_dir.png Button Flip offset direction Reverses the direction of the offset.
  Offset distance from reference point Specifies the offset distance.

Profile

Contains the controls for specifying the gusset profile shape and dimensions.

After creating the gusset feature, you can edit the sketch of the gusset profile to create a custom profile.

  Indent Depth Defines a symmetrical gusset profile using a single depth dimension.

d Indent depth dimension Specifies the depth to which the indent tool must be pushed to create the gusset.
  Profile dimensions Defines a gusset profile using one of the following combinations:
  • Length (d1) and height (d2) of the gusset legs.

    The software calculates the angle (a1).

  • Length (d1) of the gusset leg and an angle (a1) applied to the opposite leg.

    The software calculates the height (d2) of the gusset leg.

d1 Section profile length dimension Specifies a linear value from the inside of the sheet metal part to the point on the x axis where the gusset intersects the sheet metal body.
d2 Section profile height dimension Specifies a linear value from the inside of the sheet metal part to the point on the y axis where the gusset intersects the sheet metal body.
a1 Section profile angle dimension Creates the section profile of the gusset based on the profile length dimension and the angle you specify.

If you specify both a length and height for the profile, the software determines the angle.
  Flip dimension sides Toggles the section profile length and height dimensions.
Sheet_metal_gusset_rounded Rounded gusset Creates a gusset with a rounded edge.
Sheet_metal_gusset_flat Flat gusset Creates a gusset with a flat edge.

When you select Flat gusset, the Edge Fillet toggle Sheet_metal_gusset_Edge_fillet_on_off becomes available.

With Edge Fillet enabled, you can use the Edge fillet radius field to specify the diameter of edge fillets on the flat gusset.

Dimensions

Indent width Specifies width of gusset.
dim_lin_t1.png Indent thickness Specifies wall thickness of gusset.

The default value is the thickness of the sheet metal body. You can override this value, but if you specify a thickness greater than the material thickness and the gusset walls interfere with the part, the gusset will fail.

  Draft angle Specifies the draft angle to apply to the gusset side faces.

Sheet_metal_gusset_inner_corner_fillet Inner corner fillet: On/Off Turns fillets on the inner corners of the gusset on and off.
  Inner corner fillet radius When inner corner fillets are enabled, specifies their radius.
Sheet_metal_gusset_outer_corner_fillet Outer corner fillet: On/Off Turns fillets on the outer corners of the gusset on and off.
  Outer corner fillet radius When outer corner fillets are enabled, specifies their radius.

Preview

Partial Preview Displays a preview of the gusset without fillets and indents.
