To make better use of optical character recognition, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Editor lets you create custom OCR dictionaries that quickly and accurately interpret the fonts and symbols you use. The OCR Editor lets you achieve better results and save time when you create inspection reports and drawings with balloons.
The OCR engine uses dictionaries to extract and interpret information from PDF or TIFF files. While the OCR performs relatively well with good quality drawings created by the majority of CAD software, the accuracy can drop significantly if the resolution is low, the font is not recognized, or the document has been scanned.
The OCR Editor lets you create from scratch and modify OCR dictionaries. You can open a PDF or TIFF document, manually select characters, and specify the correct value. When you finish defining characters, you can save the results as a new OCR dictionary. You can use this dictionary for your projects or share it with other members of your organization.
