Palette

The Palette appears on the left side of the screen.

You can undock the Palette and move it around the screen separately from the main SOLIDWORKS Visualize window, and then re-dock it later if desired.

  • To undock the Palette, drag the top bar of the Palette away from its dock.
  • To re-dock the Palette, drag it the same way onto the arrow on the far right side of the main SOLIDWORKS Visualize window, or on the far left side of the window.

You can drag the left edge of the Palette to resize it.

  • Objects Tab

    The Objects tab of the Palette has options for selecting and transforming models and their parts.

  • Appearances Tab

    The Appearances tab of the Palette provides you with the options discussed in this section. When you select an appearance on a model, the appearance is highlighted in orange.

  • Scenes Tab

    The Scenes tab of the Palette lets you apply and manage HDR images that provide environmental lighting.

  • Cameras Tab

    The Cameras tab lets you create, configure, manage, and use various cameras to view and record a scene.

  • Rotating the Camera

    You can rotate the camera around a selected look-at point.

  • Zooming the Camera

    Zooming the camera moves the camera closer to or further away from the object, while pointing in the same direction.

  • File Libraries Tab

    In the File Libraries tab of the Palette, you can import and manage files in your local libraries.

  • Color Picker

    You can open the Color Picker dialog box from various Palette tabs and several dialog boxes.

  • Appearances Library and Appearances Tab

    This topic explains the differences between the Appearances library and the Appearances tab.
