Purging Configuration Data

To reduce the size of files and the time needed to save them, you can purge the cached configuration data of inactive configurations.

Purging the Data Manually

You can manually purge the data of inactive configurations.

At the top of the ConfigurationManager or FeatureManager design tree, right-click the model name, click Rebuild on Save Mark, and click Remove Mark and Purge Data for All Configurations.
  1. To purge the data sets, click Rebuild on Save Mark, and click Remove Mark and Purge Data for All Configurations.
    The Rebuild on Save mark cfgmgr_blue_save_disk.png is removed from all configurations including the active configuration. The data is purged for all configurations except the active one.
  2. To purge the display lists, click Large Design Review Mark and then click Remove Mark and Purge Data for All Configurations.
    The Large Design Review mark is removed from all configurations including the active configuration. The data is purged for all configurations except the active one.

The Rebuild on Save mark is removed from all configurations including the active configuration. The data is purged for all configurations except the active one.

Purging the Data Automatically

You can set a system option to automatically purge the data every time you save the document.

Click Tools > Options > System Options > Performance and select Purge cached configuration data.
Every time you save the document:
  • If the purge option is selected:
    • Data is purged for all inactive configurations flagged cfgmgr_checkmark_gray.gif or cfgmgr_dash_gray.gif.
    • Data is saved only for the active configuration (cfgmgr_checkmark_green.gif or cfgmgr_save_disk_blue.gif) and inactive configurations marked cfgmgr_save_disk_gray.gif.
  • If the purge option is not selected:
    • Data is rebuilt and saved for all configurations flagged cfgmgr_green_checkmark.png, cfgmgr_checkmark_gray.gif, cfgmgr_save_disk_blue.gif, or cfgmgr_save_disk_gray.gif.
    • Data is purged for all configurations flagged cfgmgr_dash_gray.gif.
