Managing Products and Services

The Admin Portal includes a Products tab and a Services tab. Use the Products tab to assign and activate products. Use the Services tab to assign services such as eLearning courses and MySolidWorks Pro to members.

Unlike products, you cannot transfer services. Once you assign a service to a member, you cannot remove the service from that member.

Managing Products is optional for machine activation products, including network license products. 

You may choose to name your members and assign products to them to gain the following benefits:
  • Your members can use the login feature in the Installation Manager to install the serial numbers assigned to them. 
  • Assigning subscription products to your members will grant them access to subscription content online.

However, you do not need to name your members and assign products to them for machine activation products. Access to machine activation products is gated by a license server or activation events regardless of assignment in Admin Portal. In larger organizations, you likely will not manage all members and their products.

Managing Products is required for online licensing. Likewise, Services must be assigned to named members.
