Variable Size Fillets

Creates a fillet with variable radii values. Use control points to help define the fillet.

Items To Fillet

Edges to Fillet Select entities to fillet in the graphics area.
  Show selection toolbar Shows/hides selection accelerator toolbars
  Tangent propagation Extends the fillet to all faces that are tangent to the selected face. Example: Tangent Propagation
  Full preview Displays a fillet preview of all edges.
  Partial preview Displays a fillet preview of one edge only. Press the A key to view each fillet preview in turn.
  No Preview Improves rebuild time with complex models.

Fillet Parameters

The Fillet Method you select determines which parameters are available.
Symmetric Creates a symmetric fillet defined by the radius.
Asymmetric Creates an asymmetric fillet defined by two radii.

Variable Radius Parameters - Symmetric

Attached Radii Lists the vertices of the edges selected under Items to Fillet for Edges, Faces, Features and Loops , and lists control points you selected in the graphics area.
Radius Sets the fillet radius. Select the vertices to apply the radius to in Attached Radii .
If you fillet a closed spline and the radius of the fillet is greater than the curvature of the spline edge at any point, it might create undesired geometry.
  Set All Applies the current Radius to all items under Attached Radii .
  Profile Sets the profile type to fillet. The profile defines the cross sectional shape of the fillet.

Circular

Sets the ratio that defines the weight of the curve. Enter a value between 0 and 1.

Conic Radius

Sets the radius of curvature at the shoulder point along the curve.

Curvature continuous

Creates a smoother curvature between adjacent surfaces.

Curvature continuous fillets are smoother than standard fillets because there is no jump in curvature at the boundary.

Number of Instances Sets the number of control points on the edges.
  Smooth transition Creates a fillet that changes smoothly from one radius to another when matching a fillet edge to the adjacent face.
  Straight transition Creates a fillet that changes from one radius to another linearly without matching edge tangency with an adjacent fillet.

Variable Radius Parameters - Asymmetric

Attached Radii Lists the vertices of the edges selected under Items to Fillet for Edges, Faces, Features and Loops , and lists control points you selected in the graphics area.

Vertices that connect to more than one filleted edge display in the list with *V. These vertices also display with a multi-edge control point in the graphics area. You can reverse the orientation of the fillet on one or more edges that intersect the vertex. Click the multi-edge control point to select which edges you want to reverse the orientation for.

Distance 1 Sets the radius for one fillet direction.
Distance 2 Sets the radius for the other fillet direction.
  Set All Applies the current Distance 1 and Distance 2 to all items under Attached Radii .
Reverse Direction Reverses the dimensions for Distance 1 and Distance 2 .
  Profile Sets the profile type to fillet. The profile defines the cross sectional shape of the fillet.

Setback Parameters

These options create a smooth transition between the blended surface, along the edge of the part, into the fillet corner. You select a vertex and a radius, and then assign the same or different setback distances for each edge. The setback distance is the point along each edge at which the fillet starts to blend into the three faces that meet at the common vertex. Example: Setback Fillet Preview
Distance Sets the fillet setback distance measured from the vertex.
Setback Vertices Select one or more vertices in the graphics area. The setback fillet edges meet at the selected vertices.
Setback Distances Lists the edge numbers with corresponding setback Distance values. To apply a different setback distance to edges, select an edge in Setback Distances . Then set a Distance and press Enter.
  Set All Applies the current Distance to all edges under Setback Distances .

Fillet Options

Select through faces Enables selection of edges through faces that hide edges.
Overflow type Controls the way fillets on single closed edges (circles, splines, ellipses for example) act when they meet edges. Example: Overflow Type. Select one of the following:

Default

The application selects the Keep edge or Keep surface option.

Keep edge

The model edge remains unchanged, while the fillet adjusts.

Keep surface

The fillet edge adjusts to be continuous and smooth, while the model edge changes to match the fillet edge.
