Limit Mates

Limit mates allow components to move within a range of values for distance and angle mates. You specify a starting distance or angle, and a maximum and minimum value.

To add a limit mate:

  1. Click Mate (Assembly toolbar) or Insert > Mate.
  2. Under Mate Selections, select the entities to mate for Entities to Mate .
  3. In the PropertyManager, under Advanced Mates:
    1. Click Distance or Angle .
    2. Specify Distance or Angle to define the starting distance or angle.
    3. Select Flip Dimension to move the entities to opposite sides of the dimension.
    4. Specify Maximum Value and Minimum Value to define the maximum and minimum extents of the limit mate.
  4. Click .
A LimitDistance or LimitAngle mate is added to the assembly.

Specifying Limit Mate Values in Design Tables

You can specify the lower and upper limit values for limit mates in design tables.

To specify limit mate values in a design table:

  • For distance mates, define columns for the limit mate and its upper and lower limits:
    Option Description
D1@LimitDistance1 Entering 1 in a cell specifies a limit mate for the table row.
$UPPERLIMIT_DISTANCE@LimitDistance1 Specifies the upper limit value for the limit mate.
$LOWERLIMIT_DISTANCE@LimitDistance1 Specifies the lower limit value for the limit mate.
  • For angle mates, define columns for the limit mate and its upper and lower limits:
    Option Description
D1@LimitAngle1 Entering 1 in a cell specifies a limit mate for the table row.
$UPPERLIMIT_ANGLE@LimitAngle1 Specifies the upper limit value for the limit mate.
$LOWERLIMIT_ANGLE@LimitAngle1 Specifies the lower limit value for the limit mate.
