Creating Decals

Decals are commonly used to put logos on top of other appearances, something a sticker would achieve in the real world, for example.

To create decals:

  1. In the Palette, on the Appearances tab, do one of the following:
    • Click Add (Palette toolbar) and click New Decal.
    • Right-click in the Appearances tree and click New Decal.
  2. In the dialog box, browse to an image file to use as a decal and click Open.
A new decal is added to the project and appears under Decals in the Appearances tree. The decal is not yet applied to any geometry.
  3. Drag the decal from the tree and drop it onto geometry in the viewport.
The decal is placed on the geometry using a Planar projection with a direction normal to the geometry.
