Using the CircuitWorks Feature Tree

You can use the CircuitWorks feature tree to locate and edit CircuitWorks features.

  1. In SOLIDWORKS, open an assembly.
  2. Click the CircuitWorks tab.

If the assembly was created by CircuitWorks, the tree displays the ECAD features for the assembly. Otherwise, the Select Orientation dialog box appears.

  3. If the assembly was not created by CircuitWorks:
    1. In the graphics area, select the top face of the feature that represents the board component.
    2. In the Select Orientation dialog box, click Continue.

CircuitWorks analyzes the assembly to identify components, just as it does when exporting an assembly that was not created by CircuitWorks.

    3. If prompted to use silhouette edges to determine component shape, click Yes or No.

CircuitWorks can use silhouette edges to determine component shape when there is no suitably named sketch. See Export Rules.

  4. From the CircuitWorks tree:
    • To highlight a feature in the graphics area, click the feature.
    • To zoom to a feature, right-click the feature and click Zoom to Selection.
    • To view the entire assembly, right-click in the tree and click Zoom to Fit.
    • To change the tree sort order, right-click in the tree and click Sort > Ascending or Sort > Descending .
    • To locate a feature in the tree, do one of the following:
      • In the filter field at the top of the tree, type any part of the feature name.

As you type, a search-ahead capability displays a list of components whose names contain the characters you type.

      • Right-click in the tree and click Find In Tree. In the Find in Tree dialog box, type any part of the feature name.

As with the filter search, a search-ahead capability displays a list of components whose names contain the characters you type.

You can immediately select a component from the list, or, optionally select Search Up, Case Sensitive, or both, and click Find Next.

    • To view or edit ECAD properties, right-click a feature and click Properties. See Viewing and Editing ECAD Properties from SOLIDWORKS.
