Components for Pipe and Tube Routes Many common piping and tubing components, both parts and assemblies, are supplied with the Design Library. You can create your own custom components and libraries. Contents Required Features in Routing Parts and Components This is a summary of the features, sketches, and dimensions that you must use in the components of pipe and tube route assemblies. Creating a New Pipe or Tube Part Geometry Requirements - Pipe Section The following items are required for a component to be used as a Pipe Section or Conduit Section in SOLIDWORKS Routing. Geometry Requirements - Tube Section The following items are required for a component to be used as a Tube Section in SOLIDWORKS Routing. Elbows Elbows can be created for use in a route where the line changes direction. This structured method of construction allows the elbows to be created automatically as the route is created. Flanges A flange is often used at the ends of a routing run to connect the pipe or tube to a fixed component, such as a pump or tank. Flanges can also be used to connect long straight sections of pipe. Reducers A reducer is used to change the diameter of the pipe or tube at a selected location. Other Fitting Parts Fitting parts are more generic in construction than pipes and can be created for use in a route. Assembly Fittings Assembly fittings are route fittings made up of several components. Like other types of fittings, they are available from the Design Library and can be added to routes when needed. Support for Manifold Fittings with Unaligned Connection and Route Points You can add manifold fittings to a route. These fittings have several connection points but their axes do not align at a common point where you can add a route point. Piping Hangers Piping hangers are similar to piping supports. You add them to the route after the route is completed. Pipe Nipples You can use Nipples for connecting two fittings in a route assembly. Creating a Custom Pipe Configuration When multiple pipe segments are the same length, a single configuration is used for all instances. However, you can create custom configurations in the pipe part when you want to add a feature to a selected segment. Parent topicPipes and Tubes Routes
