Workflow for Performing Design Studies The basic operations to set up and run a Design Study are explained in this section. Workflow Chart In the flowchart, * applies to the Optimization Design Study only. Defining Initial Simulation Studies When using simulation data sensors in a Design Study, you create at least one initial study. Initial studies represent the basis for the optimization or the evaluation process. During each iteration, the program runs these studies with modified variables. Evaluating the Results of the Initial Studies If using the simulation studies in your Design Study, evaluating the results of the initial studies helps you define the Design Study problem. In particular, it is useful to examine the quantities that you want to use as constraints. Setting the Properties of a Design Study Defining Variables Defining Constraints Define constraints to specify the conditions that your design must satisfy. The constraints can be driven global variables or sensors for mass properties, dimensions, and simulation data. Defining Goals You can define goals to specify your objective functions for the Optimization Design study. Optimization Design study is not available in SOLIDWORKS Standard and SOLIDWORKS Professional. Viewing the Results of the Design Study Click the Results View tab to see the results of the study you run. Design Study Outcomes The following tables summarize the expected results for combinations of study quality and variables. Parent topicDesign Studies Next topic Design Optimization
