Importing a 3D Model

You import a 3D model (also referred to as an object or mesh) to serve as a 3D subject in a project.


Using the SOLIDWORKS Visualize add-in, you can export models from SOLIDWORKS and load them into SOLIDWORKS Visualize. With SOLIDWORKS Professional, you can also export Motion Studies. For more information, see the SOLIDWORKS Help.

Importing a Model into an Existing Project

  1. Open an existing project.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click File > Import.
    • Click Project > Models > Import Model.
    • On the Models tab of the Palette, click Add and click Import Model.
  3. In the Import dialog box, browse to a model and click Open.
  4. In the Import Settings dialog box, specify options and click OK.
    The model is added to the open project.

Importing a Model into a New Project

  1. Click File > Open.
  2. In the Open Project dialog box, browse to a model and click Open.
    A new project opens.
  3. In the Import Settings dialog box, specify options and click OK.
    The model is added to the new project.
