General Simulation

Static Creates a static study to calculate the response of models on which loads are applied slowly. The loads remain constant after reaching their full magnitudes.
Use 2D Simplification Creates a 2D simplification study to simplify certain 3D models by simulating them in 2D and saving analysis time. Available analysis types include plane stress, plane strain, and axisymmetric.
Frequency Creates a frequency study to calculate the natural frequencies and mode shapes of models.

Design Insight

Topology Study Creates a topology optimization study to explore conceptual designs of a component.
Design Study Creates a Design Study to perform a parametric optimization, or evaluate specific scenarios of your design.

Advanced Simulation

Thermal Creates a thermal study to calculate the temperature distribution in bodies due to conduction, convection, and radiation.
Buckling Creates a buckling study to calculate the buckling modes and critical buckling loads of bodies.
Fatigue Creates a fatigue study to calculate the total life, damage, and load factors due to cyclic loading.
Constant amplitude events with defined cycles Creates a fatigue study with a constant amplitude load.
Variable amplitude history data Creates a fatigue study with a variable amplitude load.
Harmonic-fatigue of sinusoidal loading Available for fatigue study. Creates a fatigue study that is based on stress results as a function of frequency from a Dynamic - Harmonic study.
Random vibration - fatigue of random vibration Available for fatigue study. Creates a fatigue study that is based on stress results as a function of frequency from a Dynamic - Random vibration study.
Nonlinear Creates a nonlinear study to calculate the nonlinear response of models due to applied loads.
Nonlinear Static Creates a nonlinear static study to solve models with nonlinearity caused by material behavior, large displacements, and contact conditions.
Nonlinear Dynamic Creates a nonlinear dynamic study for models with inertial and damping forces.
Use 2D Simplification Creates a 2D simplification study to simplify certain 3D models by simulating them in 2D and saving analysis time. Available analysis types include plane stress, plane strain, and axisymmetric.
Linear Dynamic Creates a linear dynamic study to calculate the response of models by accumulating the contribution of each mode to the loading environment. The loads change with time or frequency.
Modal Time History Available for linear dynamic study. Use modal time history analysis when the variation of each load with time is known explicitly, and you are interested in the response as a function of time.
Harmonic Available for linear dynamic study. Creates a study to calculate the peak steady state response of models due to harmonic loads or base excitations.
Random Vibration Available for linear dynamic study. Creates a study to calculate the response of models due to nondeterministic loads.
Response Spectrum Analysis Available for linear dynamic study. Creates a study to estimate the response of structures to uniform and selected base excitations defined as peak amplitudes over a frequency spectrum.

Specialized Simulation

Submodeling Creates a submodeling study to improve the results at local regions of large models without having to rerun the analysis for the whole model.
Drop Test Creates a drop test study to evaluate the impact of a part or an assembly with a rigid or flexible planar surface.
Pressure Vessel Design Creates a pressure vessel design study to combine the results of static studies with the specified factors.
