Adding Existing Files to a Treehouse Hierarchy

You can add part and assembly files into Treehouse.

To import a file into Treehouse:

  1. Click Existing File .
    File Explorer opens.
  2. Navigate to a folder and take one of the following actions:
    Option Description
    Add existing files to the current Treehouse document Drag a part or assembly file from File Explorer to an assembly node in Treehouse.

    To select multiple files:

    • Ctrl + select to select individual files.
    • Shift + select to select a group of files.

    If you select files that are not part (*.sldprt) or assembly (*.sldasm) files, a message warns that you cannot import these files.

    Start a new Treehouse file using an existing SOLIDWORKS assembly. Drag an assembly file to the Treehouse work area. If you are editing an assembly file structure in Treehouse, the software prompts you to save it.
    You cannot copy and paste imported drawings inside the Treehouse structure.
    The part and assembly files appear as nodes in Treehouse.
