-DiscardDuplicates
Use the -DiscardDuplicates command to remove duplicate entities or overlapping segments of entities from the drawing. The command creates single entities from adjacent or partially overlapping entities.
It is the command window variant of the DiscardDuplicates command.
To discard duplicate entities:
- Type -DiscardDuplicates at the command prompt.
- In the graphics area, select the entities to examine.
- Press Enter.
In the command window, the option settings display.
- Set options:
- Ignore. Specifies entity properties to ignore during comparison.
If you select this option, specify the properties to ignore:
- None. Discards duplicate entities unless they have different properties.
- All. Ignores all different entity properties when discarding duplicate entities.
- Layer, LineColor, LineStyle, LineScale, LineWeight, PrintStyle, Thickness, Transparency. Specifies one or more of these properties to ignore when they are different.
- Optimize PolyLine. Examines each vertex and each linear and curved segment of selected PolyLines and removes duplicate vertices and segments. Also, if a PolyLine segment duplicates a Line or Arc, one of the entities is deleted.
If you select this option, specify additional options:
- Yes. PolyLines are optimized.
- No. PolyLines are not optimized.
- Segment width. Ignores the segment widths of PolyLines.
- Split polyline. Splits PolyLines when vertices and segments are removed.
- Combine partial overlap. Creates a single entity from entities that partially overlap.
- Combine end to end. Creates a single entity from collinear entities that have common endpoints.
- Associativity. Leaves associative entities unchanged (such as the boundary entities of Hatches or the defining entities of Dimensions).
- Type Exit.
A message reports the number of entities that were removed or combined.
Note: The software saves these settings.
