File Menu (SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected)

In SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected, the File menu provides commands to create, open, save, import, and export content.

Supported data types include:

  • SOLIDWORKS Visualize project files (.SVPJ)
  • SOLIDWORKS part files (.SLDPRT)
  • SOLIDWORKS assembly files (.SLDASM)
New Creates a new Visualize project (.SVPJ) in Visualize Connected.

New projects are empty except for the default HDR environment image to provide lighting and reflections, and a backplate image for the background.

Open Opens existing content from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Open from This PC Opens existing content from a local drive.
Save Saves your current content to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and overwrites the original content.
Save with Options Lets you select options for your current content, such as specifying a new filename, adding a bookmark, or creating a new revision, and then saves the content to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Save to This PC Saves your current content to a local drive.
Import Adds content from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to the open project.
Import from This PC Adds content from a local drive to the open project.
Export Exports your current content to a local drive in any of the following formats.
  • GL Transmission Format (*.gltf)
  • Binary GL Transmission Format (*.glb)
  • Compressed GL Transmission Format (*.draco.gltf)
  • Compressed Binary GL Transmission Format (*.draco.glb)
  • OBJ Scene (*.obj)
  • Autodesk FBX Scene (*.fbx)
