Saving Drawings with Design with DraftSight

When you install Design with DraftSight, it adds a 3DEXPERIENCE folder with a MyWork folder on your computer. Before you can save the drawings on your computer to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you must save the files first to the MyWork folder.

The app automatically copies the drawings from the MyWork folder to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

To save drawings on your computer to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:

  1. With the drawing open in Design with DraftSight, click File > Save As.
  2. In the Save As dialog box, navigate to the MyWork folder and click Save.
You can also save the drawing in a subfolder within the MyWork folder.
  3. In DraftSight, click the 3DEXPERIENCE tab and click Connect to log into the platform using your 3DEXPERIENCE platform credentials.

The 3DEXPERIENCE tab opens the My Session widget. The drawing you saved in the MyWork folder appears in My Session.

  4. In MySession, right-click the file and select Save.

The file is saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

You can perform product lifecycle operations such as:
  • Lock the file on the platform.
  • Modify it in DraftSight.
  • Save the drawing as a new revision on the platform.
