If a list or format string does not cover your needs, you can use a
SOLIDWORKS PDM serial number add-in to create a serial
number.
To create a serial number from an add-in:

Use the Administrate Add-ins dialog
box to add the serial number add-in to the vault. See Installing SOLIDWORKS PDM Add-ins.

Right-click
Serial Numbers and select New Serial Number.

In the Serial Number dialog box,
enter the serial number name.

For Type, select Serial number from add-in.

In the Name of add-in list,
select the add-in.

In Next counter value, set the
starting value for the serial number. You can start from any integer number.

Click OK.
