Plotting the Part Center of Mass Position in an Assembly

You can plot the position of the center of mass of a part in an assembly.

  1. From a Motion Analysis study, click Results and Plots (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. In the PropertyManager under Result, for Category, select Displacement/Velocity/Acceleration.
  3. For Subcategory, select Center of Mass Position.
  4. For Select result component, select an option:
    • X Component for the X coordinate of the position.
    • Y Component for the Y coordinate of the position.
    • Z Component for the Z coordinate of the position.
  5. Select a face.

Center of Mass Position gives the position of the center of gravity of the part for the selected face. The result is relative to the origin of the assembly and is in the global direction unless you select a nonfixed or grounded Component to define XYZ directions.

By default, the motion of the center of mass is calculated relative to the assembly origin. You can optionally select a reference part to plot the motion of the center of mass relative to the coordinates of that part.
The center of mass of the selected part is indicated with a small ball .
  6. Select the Plot Results options and click .
The result appears in the MotionManager design tree.
  7. Click Calculate (MotionManager toolbar).
