Installing SOLIDWORKS Connected

Prerequisites for installing are:
  • 3DEXPERIENCE platform credentials.
  • A web browser.

You cannot install and run SOLIDWORKS Connected on a machine that also has SOLIDWORKS 2023 or the Design for SOLIDWORKS app installed.

However, you can install and run SOLIDWORKS Connected if you have SOLIDWORKS 2022 or an earlier version of SOLIDWORKS on your machine. Your platform administrator can help you resolve any concerns.

This procedure describes how to install SOLIDWORKS Connected from the Compass. You can also install and open SOLIDWORKS Connected from the Welcome app. For more information, see Welcome App.

To install SOLIDWORKS Connected from the Compass:

  1. Log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
You can log in with your existing SOLIDWORKS ID if it uses the same email address as the email address that your administrator used to invite you to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Otherwise, you need to create new 3DEXPERIENCE credentials.
  2. On the top bar of the 3DDashboard, click the Compass .
  3. Under Me, click SOLIDWORKS Connected.

  4. Follow the prompts to download and install SOLIDWORKS Connected and other apps entitled to your assigned role.

Install the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher if prompted.

  5. To use SOLIDWORKS Connected for the first time:
    1. Return to the 3DDashboard in your browser.
    2. Click the Compass and click SOLIDWORKS Connected.
    3. Log in if required.

The installer for SOLIDWORKS Connected downloads a non-Java-based PLM Collaborative Services (PLMCSA) client, which enables the integration between SOLIDWORKS Connected and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This client replaces the Java-based Integration Exchange Framework client (IEF).

To switch to the Java-based IEF client, see Switching to Java-Based IEF Client in Dassault Systèmes User Assistance. Access to Dassault Systèmes User Assistance requires 3DEXPERIENCE credentials.

Uninstalling SOLIDWORKS Connected

To uninstall SOLIDWORKS Connected:

  1. In Windows, click Start > Settings > Apps.
  2. On the Apps & features page, select Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE from the list and click Uninstall.
  3. If you are not using any other apps on the platform, you can also uninstall 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher.

Updating SOLIDWORKS Connected

In the Compass, when an update is available, a colored arrow appears in the list menu for SOLIDWORKS Connected.

To update SOLIDWORKS Connected:

  1. Log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  2. On the top bar of the 3DDashboard, click the Compass .
  3. Under Me, go to SOLIDWORKS and expand the list for the app. Then do one of the following:
