Characteristic Extraction

You can extract characteristics from a drawing with tools on the Document ribbon. After you extract characteristics from the drawing, you can modify the extracted items.

Two extraction methods are available:

Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Uses dictionaries to extract and interpret information from PDF or TIFF files.
You can use the OCR Editor to create custom dictionaries to read drawings that have unrecognized fonts.
Smart Extract. Extracts characteristics from PDF files based on all of the annotations in a box-selected area.
