Exploding and Merging Characteristics

You can explode or separate a characteristic into multiple instances if the characteristic has a quantity greater than one under Quantity in the Properties section .

During extraction, SOLIDWORKS Inspection creates a separate characteristic instance if:
  • You specified a quantity in the text associated with the dimension.
  • You select Create for Each Instance in the Create Inspection Project PropertyManager.

To explode characteristics:

In the Bill of Characteristics, right-click the characteristic and click Grouping > Create For Each Instance.

To merge characteristics:

  1. In the Bill of Characteristics, select all rows of the instances to merge.

    All rows must have the same Specification.

  2. Right-click and click Grouping > Merge To Single Instance.
