Auto-Spacing Components

When you explode multiple components in one step, you can space them equally along an axis.

To auto-space components:

  1. Select two or more components.
  2. Drag a triad handle to explode the components.

The selected components move, maintaining an equal space between them as you drag. Parallel components remain parallel.
  3. In the PropertyManager, under Options, select a bounding box option:
    Bounding box center

Orders auto-spacing by the center of the bounding box.

    Bounding box rear

Orders auto-spacing by the rear of the bounding box.

    Bounding box front

Orders auto-spacing by the front of the bounding box.

  4. Optional: Edit the explode step in the following ways:
    • Use the drag handles to move the components and change their order in the chain.
    • Drag a component to another mated component to maintain the mate.
    • Change the auto-space distance. In the PropertyManager, under Options, move the Spacing slider.
    • Drag the components past your initial mouse drag to collapse and then explode the components in the other direction.
