Creating Sketch Offsets on 3D Geometry Surfaces

You can use the Offset on Surface tool to offset 3D model edges and model faces in a 3D sketch.

To create sketch offsets on 3D geometry surfaces:

  1. Open a 3D model.
  2. Click Offset on Surface (Sketch toolbar) or Tools > Sketch Tools > Offset on Surface.
  3. In the graphics area, select an edge of the model.

  4. In the PropertyManager:
    1. Set the Offset Distance.
    2. Select Reverse.
      The software projects the entity on the opposite face.
      You can only use Reverse when the selected edge is connected to faces that belong to the same body.


  5. Select the interior edges of the model.
  6. Click .
  7. Double-click the dimension value of the selected edges and enter the dimension value in the input box.


  8. Click Offset on Surface .
  9. In the PropertyManager:
    1. Click the face of the model as shown.
    2. Set the Offset Distance.
    3. Click .
    The software offsets all the edges of the face by the Offset Distance.
