Propagate data to connected objects

This feature allows you to propagate data through connected objects, for example, if you want to assign a channel address of a PLC to the number of the wire connected to this channel. The first step is to select the source of the data. This can be the whole electrical project, a part of the electrical project or an object selected in a drawing. The second step consists to create a propagation rule and the last step is to select the objects to update.

Menu: Process > Propagate data to connected objects

Selection

Whole project: Propagates the data on all the objects of the electrical project.

Current book: Propagates the data only on the objects of the current book (the book associated with the current scheme).

Current folder: Propagates the data only on the objects of the current folder (the folder associated with the current scheme).

Current scheme: Propagates the data only on the objects of the current scheme.

Objects selected in the scheme: Propagates the data only on the objects selected in the current scheme.

Choose schemes: Opens the scheme selector to select schemes to process. Only objects within these schemes will be processed.

Information to propagate

Add propagation: Allows you to create a new propagation rule.

Delete: Deletes the selected propagation rule.

When you create a new propagation rule, a new line is added in the table. Select the values in the different columns to create the rule. To organize the rule chronology, use the Up and Down icons to manage the order in which the rules will be processed. A checkbox lets you activate or deactivate the propagation rule.

Copy from object: Select in the list, the object that you want to use to propagate the data.

Data to propagate: Select in the list, the data type you want to propagate. This data is specific to the selected object.

Destination object: Select in the list the object in which you want to propagate the previously selected data.

Destination data: Select in the list the data type in which the propagated data will be copied.

Update object properties

Even if the objects are automatically updated with the propagated data, it's necessary to activate the update checkboxes to propagate the data using formula.
