Symbol Palette

Dockable panel: Symbols

Valid for symbol types: Schematic and Line diagram

 

Each drawing type, (schematic / wiring diagram / mixed scheme), has its symbol palette. It includes frequently used symbols as well as access to all symbols available in the electrical project libraries.

The palettes are fully customizable: you can add or remove groups of symbols and add or remove symbols.

You can configure the use of symbol palettes in the electrical project configuration libraries and palettes tab, and the palette configuration.

 

To insert a symbol:

1.     Double-click on this symbol or use a Drag and Drop.

2.     Click a point in the drawing to insert the symbol.

Group management

To optimize the search symbols, they are grouped by category. Palettes have a contextual menu to manage these groups.

 

Add symbols: Adds symbols to the selected group. symbol selector opens where the symbol to be added can be selected.

Edit this symbol: Opens the symbol in the symbol editor to modify it.

Delete this symbol: Removes the selected symbol from the Palette.

New group: Allows a new group to be created. The group properties dialog box opens where the name and thumbnails can be configured.

Group properties: Allows the editing of the Group name and to set the size of the thumbnails.

Delete Group: Allows to delete the group. The symbols contained in the group are not removed from the Palette.

 

Activate Group: Opens a sub-menu listing all groups. Select the desired group.

Searching for symbols

The palettes have an option to search for a specific symbol. This search is not restricted to the symbols palette, but can search across the whole symbol library. 

 

In the box,

1.     Enter the desired text.

2.     Click the Find button.

 

All symbols containing the text entered in the description field will appear in the search results.

Adding a symbol to the palette

Like the macros, you can add a symbol inserted in the graphical area to the palette.

 

1.     Open the group of the palette to which you want to add the symbol.

2.     Select the symbol in the graphical area.

3.     Drag and drop it in the group of the palette.
