Installation
SOLIDWORKS Electrical
elements
Description of the different elements available
during installation.
SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic:
Software that helps you create electrical schematics.
SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D:
SOLIDWORKS
add-in that helps in creating 3D layouts of materials and routing of cables,
wires, and harnesses. This module does not install if you do not have
SOLIDWORKS.
SQL Server: Database manager
provided by Microsoft. This software will not be installed if you use
an existing SQL Server.
Data:
All necessary data that is needed for normal operation of SOLIDWORKS Electrical
(Symbol or title block libraries, manufacturer parts...).
Collaborative
server: A utility that helps you manage opening and automatic updates
of files. It also helps multiple users work on the same electrical project.
Initial Installation
There are many ways to carry out an installation,
depending on your IT infrastructure, your needs and the number of potential
users. For example, you can opt for a Stand-alone installation (the software
and all its data are installed on the same workstation.) or a Client/server
mode of installation (the data is installed on the server and is accessible
by all users.).
To determine which type of installation would be suitable for you, consult
the Installation Guide.
Installing an update
Archive all your electrical projects before
installing an update. Do not uninstall the software (you could lose your
data), but run the installation program; it automatically detects the
presence of the software and proposes to update it.
Uninstall
Before uninstalling SOLIDWORKS Electrical,
create an archive of all the elements that you want to keep. (For example,
to be able to recover this data on another workstation). Use the Uninstall
Windows program to remove SOLIDWORKS Electrical
from the workstation. You can also use the Uninstall
option available in the context menu of the shortcut of the Windows Start menu.
