Macro management

SOLIDWORKS Electrical has a library allowing you to store parts of schemes, called Macros.

Macros are grouped together within the Macro management and are thus available for use by all electrical projects. The macros have filtering criteria allowing classification.

Menu: Libraries > Macro management

The Macro management dialog box opens. It allows you to add, edit or delete macros.

The left-hand side of the Macro management has two tabs.

Classification

This tab displays the macro classification in a tree.

The left side of the dialog box shows the macro classes, the right shows the macros in the currently selected class.

Filters

This tab allows you to filter the macros list. All filtering criteria are the same as those present in the macro properties.

The right side of the dialog box displays the macros corresponding to the selected criteria.

Remove filters: Click this button to remove all filter criteria.

Some of these features accept the multi-selection, such as Delete or Properties.

Open: The macros are viewed as electrical projects. When you click the Open icon, the macro is automatically added to the dockable panel in the Pages tab. It is preceded by a specific icon to avoid confusing it with an electrical project. The macro is automatically opened in the graphical interface.

Delete: Deletes the selected Macros.

Properties: Opens the dialog box of the Macro properties. If you select several Macros, the Properties dialog box displays only the common properties.

View: Opens the Macro in a preview dialog box. This interface does not allow modifications.

Cut: Places a copy of the selected Macros on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [X]

Copy: Places a copy of the selected Macros on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard and keeps the originals. The Copy command can be used also to copy the selected element list to another application such as Excel (List mode only).

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [C]

Paste: Pastes the Macro present on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard. A new Macro is created.

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [V]

Select all: Allows you to select all the Macros displayed on the right-hand side of the Macro management.

List mode: Displays Macros in the form of a list (Name, Description, classification). In this mode, you can copy the list of the selected elements to another application, such as Excel.

Thumbnail mode: Displays Macros in the form of thumbnail previews.

Configuration: Allows you to manage the display settings for items in the dialog box.

Archive: Select the elements you want to archive and click the Archive icon. A dialog box to save the file opens allowing you to save the archived file.

Unarchive: A file selection dialog box opens where a TEWZIP file can be selected for unarchiving. The Update data wizard will open automatically. Refer to the Archive / Unarchive chapter for more information.

Classification management: Allows you to manage the different classes in which the macros are stored.

Display sub-classes content: When the box is checked, it displays all the objects contained in the sub-class of the selected class.

Keep the dialog opened: When this option is selected, the dialog box does not close when you open an object.

To add a macro, see the Create macro chapter.
