An injection unit in SOLIDWORKS Plastics simulates analogous functions
performed by the physical injection and hydraulic units in an actual injection molding
machine.
The injection unit serves two primary purposes:
- Specifies
the material to use.
This is generally a melted polymer, but
can also be a gas or liquid in the case of gas-assisted or water-assisted
injection molding.
- Specifies the settings for the Fill and Pack processes associated
with the injection unit and selected material.
You associate the cavity and runner domains through which the materials flow
with an injection unit. For most injection processes, this association is trivial and
performed automatically. However, in the case of
Multi
Material Overmolding, you must
specify
the material association when you assign the domains.
