-EditPattern
Use the -EditPattern command to modify the shape and appearance of associative patterns.
It is the command window variant of the EditPattern command.
You can also edit associative patterns using specific EntityGrips and the Properties palette.
Entities within associative patterns retain their relationships. Associative patterns let you edit them in their entirety instead of changing the individual items in the pattern.
Note: To undo the associativity of patterns, use the Explode command.
To modify an associative pattern:
- Type -EditPattern at the command prompt.
- In the graphics area, specify an associative pattern and press Enter.
The set of options varies according to the specified pattern:
- For a circular pattern, specify an option:
- Angle between. Specifies the included angle between the base points of the pattern entities and the center of the pattern. Type a positive value and press Enter.
- Element base point. Lets you specify a new reference point for the entities in the circular pattern. The base point is allways at the same distance from the center of the circular pattern.
- Fill angle. Lets you specify the included angle between the base points of the first and last elements in the circular pattern. Type a positive or negative value. Press Enter to accept the 360° default. A value of zero is not allowed.
- Levels. Lets you specify the number of levels along the Z axis and the distance between the levels.
- Orient element. Rotates the copies as they are patterned, otherwise they maintain the alignment of the source entities. To specify whether to orient the copies about the axis, type Yes or No.
- Total number. Specifies the resulting number of copies in the circular patten (including the source). If you specify the number of copies, you must specify either the angle to fill or the angle between copies.
- For a linear pattern, specify an option:
- Element base point. Lets you specify the base point in the graphics area.
- For Horizontal axis and Vertical axis, type the number of copies.
- Levels. Lets you specify the number of levels along the Z axis and the distance between the levels.
- Optionally, use the following options to modify the source entity:
- Source. Lets you edit the pattern source entity. In the graphics area, specify one of the pattern elements as a source entity to modify. Use the ClosePattern command to finish editing the pattern source entities.
- Replace. Replaces the source entities for specified pattern elements or for all elements referencing the original pattern source entities.
- Reset. Restores erased pattern elements and removes any element overrides.
- Specify Exit to end the command.
