Using Sheet Views in Drawing Sheet Sets
The Sheet Views tab of the Sheet Set Manager displays a list of model views used in the current drawing sheet set. You can organize model views in view classes. You can display the list of model views by view classes or by the drawing sheet on which they are placed.
Note: Always modify a sheet from an open drawing sheet set.
You can do the following:
- Organize sheet views in classes
- Display a sheet view
- Add label blocks and callout blocks to views
- Preview and display descriptive information about the selected item
Organizing Sheet Views in Classes
On the Sheet Views tab, you can organize sheet views into classes. You can display the list of views by classes or by the drawing sheet on which they are placed.
To create a new view class:
- In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
- On the Sheet Views tab, click View by Class.
- Right-click the drawing sheet set and select New View Class.
- In the View Class dialog box, do the following:
- In Class name, specify the name of the new view class.
- Specify the callout blocks to use for the views in this view class.
- Optionally, you can add blocks to the list:
- Click Add Blocks.
- In the List of Blocks dialog box, do one of the following:
- Specify a block from the list.
- Click Add and specify a new block to add to the list.
You can modify the view class properties at any time. Right-click the view class and select Properties from the context menu.
To specify the class of a sheet view:
- In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
- On the Sheet Views tab, click View by Drawing Sheet.
- Navigate to the view for which you want to specify the class, right-click and select Set Class from the context menu.
- Specify the class from the displayed list.
Alternatively, you can display the views by class and drag views from one class to another.
To remove a view class:
Note: You can remove only empty view classes.
- In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
- On the Sheet Views tab, click View by Class.
- Right-click the view class and select Remove Class from the context menu.
Displaying a Sheet View
To display a sheet view:
- In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
- On the Sheet Views tab, navigate to the sheet view to display in the graphics area.
The Preview area displays previews of the selected drawing or sheet view.
- Do one of the following:
- Double-click the sheet view.
- Right-click the sheet view and select Display from the context menu.
The selected view is zoomed to fit the graphics are.
Placing Callout Blocks and Label Blocks on a Sheet
Callout blocks are symbols that reference other drawing sheets.
You can use blocks as callout blocks or label blocks in a drawing sheet set.
A callout block can be an individual drawing file or a block definition within another drawing or template.
A callout block includes attribute definitions, such as the view number, the drawing sheet number, and other additional information. associated with the drawing sheet or view that is referenced. Callout blocks automatically update when drawing sheet set properties change.
You can assign any number of callout blocks to an entire drawing sheet set or to a view class.
To use callout blocks, do the following:
- Create your callout blocks.
You can create several blocks in a drawing file or store each block in a separate drawing file.
- Assign your blocks to drawing sheet sets using the Drawing Sheet Set properties.
- Add views on your sheets.
When you add views on your sheets, the assigned callout blocks that contains view-specific information automatically displays on the sheet.
To place a callout block on a sheet:
- In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
- On the Drawing Sheet List tab, open a sheet.
- On the Sheet Views tab, navigate to the sheet view with which to associate the callout block. The Preview area displays previews of the selected sheet view.
- Right-click the sheet view and select Place Callout Block from the context menu.
The menu displays all the blocks that you specified.
Note: If you have not specified callout blocks for the drawing sheet set, the List of Blocks dialog box appears.
- Specify the callout block to place on the sheet.
The view and the drawing sheet number automatically displays in the callout.
- In the graphics area, specify the insertion point of the callout block.
The callout block is placed on the sheet. The callout block displays information about the view with which it is associated.
