Environment Archiver

Environment Archiver is an external application allowing you to archive the environment. A specific interface is available in SOLIDWORKS Electrical to set the options. Then you can create a scheduled task to launch the creation of the archive file.

To use Environment Archiver, SOLIDWORKS Electrical must be installed in the workstation and you must have a valid license.

Configure the options

The first step is to initialize the options, using the specific interface.

 

Menu: File > Archive environment > Run external archiver

 

Application to run: Displays the name of the executable file and its path. The Run button launches a background instance of the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic. Status displays the result of the connection between the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic and the Environment Archiver.

If User Right Management is active, you must click the User icon to enter your login and your password. The user must have the authorization to work with the API to use the Environment Archiver.

Close after archive: Select this option to close the application after the archive creation.

Archive mode: Select the option corresponding to the objects you want to archive. When the option Exclude projects is selected, the electrical projects are not included in the archive file whatever the objects selected bellow (except for the electrical projects, this options is unavailable).

Output folder: Click the [...] button to select the folder in which the archive file will be saved. The Open button allows you to open a file explorer displaying the output folder.

Open log file: A log file is created, select this option to open it at the end of the process.

 

You can click the Archive now button to test your options or to create immediately the archive file.

Create a scheduled task

The second step is to create a scheduled task which periodically launches the archiving.

Use the Task Scheduler of Windows to create the task.

Application: EwEnvironmentArchiver.exe (located in the ...\bin_x64\EwEnvironmentArchiver\ folder of the software).

Argument: runwithlastoption

Command line: The result of the command line is: "...\bin_x64\EwEnvironmentArchiver\EwEnvironmentArchiver.exe" runwithlastoption
