Insert cabinet

The cabinet is the first element to be inserted. It allows you to find the best scale factor to use, according to the title block you are using.

To insert the cabinet, open the layout drawing for the location of the cabinet.

The manufacturer parts (allocated to the cabinet, ducts, rails or accessories) appear in the dockable panel. There are two ways to insert the cabinet.

Contextual menu of the cabinet reference: Insert as cabinet

Double-click on the cabinet reference: Insert as cabinet

If a symbol has been associated with the manufacturer part, it is inserted. If no symbol has been associated, a rectangular generic symbol (EW_2D_Cabinet) is inserted using the X and Y dimensions of the manufacturer part.

Specify the symbol to insert

1.     Click Other symbol to select another symbol apart from the one suggested.

Symbol orientation

2.     Adjust the direction of the insertion of the 2D footprint. Select the angle of rotation of the cabinet.

Options

Hide background: Select this option to hide elements placed behind the one currently being inserted.

3.     Click the insertion point in the graphic interface.

You can also add a new cabinet reference by clicking the Add cabinet icon in the menu.

The dialog box for selecting a manufacturer part opens, letting you select a new reference. After confirmation, it is ready to be inserted.

Scale factor

If you know the scale factor to use, you can enter it before inserting the cabinet. If you do not know it, insert the cabinet with scale factor 1:1 and modify it later.

Menu: Cabinet layout > Scale

Scale attributes: If this box is unchecked, the size of the attributes is handled as defined in the 2D footprint. If it is checked, the scale factor used for insertion will be applied to the attributes.

Insert other elements

Contextual menu of the accessory reference: Insert as other element

Double-click on the accessory reference: Insert as other element

If no 2D footprint is associated with the manufacturer part, SOLIDWORKS Electrical will use a generic thumbnail (rectangle).
