PDF Configuration

The PDF Configuration page lets you define PDF document generation.

These options apply when you select PDF (.pdf) from the Publish page. See Publish.

Command NameDescription
TemplateSpecifies a PDF template. Browse to select a .pdf file. Sample templates are available in: <install_dir>\Composer\ <version>\Pdf. You can create templates using Adobe Acrobat®. For details, see About the Creation of PDF Templates.
Embedded 3D fileSpecifies how to include your 3D content in the PDF document:
  • U3D - Embeds the 3D scene and any animations into the PDF file using the standard Universal 3D (U3D) format, which is fully supported by Adobe Reader 7 and later, Adobe Acrobat 7 and later, and Adobe Acrobat 3D.

Specify additional options on the U3D options page.

Note: For information about controlling U3D Models with Acrobat JavaScript, see the Composer Programming Guide.

  • SMG (enhanced content) - Embeds the Composer scene into the PDF file using the Composer Control interface, which is similar to that of authoring tools. SMG gives the user an intuitive workspace with enhanced content.

Note: An Adobe Acrobat/Reader plugin is required to view the 3D scene. You can download this free plugin from the Composer website.

  • Preview image only - Embeds a snapshot of the current viewport as an image into the PDF file.
