Manually Defining Connectivity Data

If you create an electrical route using Start by Drag/Drop, you can define connectivity data in the Edit Wires PropertyManager without specifying paths. Then you can use Guidelines in the Auto Route PropertyManager to manipulate the paths.

To define connectivity data:

  1. Drag the connectors into the route sub-assembly.

    EditWire_AddConnectors.gif

  2. In the Edit Wires PropertyManager, click Add Wire PM_EditWires_AddWires.gif and specify wires and cables.
  3. In Wire From-To List, select the first wire.
  4. In From-To Parameters:
    1. Under From, select a connector in the graphics area for Component Ref EditWire_From.gif. Optionally, select or type a pin reference.
    2. Under To, select a connector in the graphics area for Component Ref EditWire_To.gif. Optionally, select or type a pin reference.
      EditWire_DefineConnectivity.gif
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other wires.
  6. Click PM_OK.gif.
The paths remain undefined, but the connectivity data is saved. Now when you use Auto Route Tool_AutoRoute_RoutingTools.gif, you can use Guidelines to manipulate the paths.
