Adding Measurements Input

You can manually or automatically add Measurements Input for SOLIDWORKS Inspection to compare the required value with the measured value.

You can enter measurements into the Measurements Input table by:
  • Manually entering measurements.
  • Using a digital microphone or digital calipers connected to the computer. You can connect digital calipers to your computer (with a cable and keyboard wedge) and enter measurement data automatically as you measure the part.

After you add measurements, you can export the document as a PDF or Microsoft® Excel® file. The drawing can show the pass/fail conditions and the inspection report can include the measured values.

To add Measurements Input:

  1. In a ballooned document, turn on Measurements Input options:
    1. In Options > Application Options > General, under Add-ins, select Measurements Input and CMM Data Import.
    2. Specify Measurements Input options.
The capture regions for each extracted dimension or note are highlighted in the Unspecified color in Measurements Input options.
  2. In the Table Manager, on the Characteristics tab, in the Measurements Input table, click the first row and enter the measured value for the characteristic.
The cell and the characteristic on the drawing are shaded with the colors you specified for Pass, Marginal Pass, and Failure in Measurements Input options.
  3. Enter measured values for each ballooned characteristic.
You can copy and paste measured values from Microsoft Excel into the table cells:
    • To copy all of the Microsoft Excel data into one Measurements Input cell, double-click the Measurements Input cell and paste the data.
    • To copy Microsoft Excel data and paste it across a range of cells in Measurements Input, right-click the Measurements Input cell and click Paste.
  4. Optional: Edit the table:
    Option Procedure
Add columns to enter measurements for multiple parts Right-click the table header and click Add.
When you add a new column, the drawing displays the highlighted conditions for that column only. The default display is Unspecified until you add measurements for that column.

Enter multiple measurements for a characteristic
    1. In a table cell, click the down arrow.
    2. In the dialog box, click .
    3. Enter a measured value.

You can specify the display of multiple measured values (Worst Case, Max/Min, Worst Case/Best Case, or Average Case) in Measurements Input.
