Characteristic Info

Start Number Specifies the starting balloon number.
Sort Specifies the balloon sort order.
Classification Specifies the balloon classification, such as Critical, Major, Minor, or Incidental.
Extraction
  • Automatic. Automatically extracts characteristics based on the Extraction Settings you specified.
  • Manual. Applies balloons to the characteristics you select. Balloons are numbered in the order you select them.

To manually add characteristics, click Add Characteristic (SOLIDWORKS Inspection toolbar) and click each characteristic to inspect.

Create for Each Instance Creates a separate instance for characteristics with a quantity of more than one. It creates a separate row for each instance when you export to an inspection report.
Auto Balloon Automatically adds balloons to the drawing.

When cleared, this option can save time in large drawings because balloons are not recreated after each modification. Click Add/Edit Balloons to add balloons to the drawing after you finish making changes.

Prevent Automatic Renumbering Lets you add or remove balloons without affecting the numbering of the remaining balloons.

If you remove a balloon, its number is removed from the sequence without affecting the other balloon numbers.

If you add new characteristics, they are added to the end of the balloon number sequence.

Sampling

Select appropriate values based on your Lot Size to inspect, and the Level, Type, and (acceptable quality level) for the project. The Sampling standards are based on ANSI Z1.4 standards for statistical sampling.
