Assigning Materials to Domains

You assign materials to cavity, insert, mold, and cooling channel domains.

Assigning Material to an Insert

To assign material to an Insert domain:

In the PlasticsManager , right-click an Insert domain, and do one of the following options:
  • Select a metal.
    1. Select Metal.
    2. In the Insert (Metal) dialog box, click Default Database or User-defined Database.
    3. From the Mold Database tab, select a material.
  • Select a polymer.
    1. Select Polymer
    2. In the Insert Polymer dialog box, click Default Database or User-defined Database.
    3. From the Plastics Database tab, select a material.
  • From the list of recently used materials, select a material.

Assigning Material to a Cooling Channel

To assign material to a Cooling Channel domain:

In the PlasticsManager , right-click a Cooling Channel domain, and do one of the following options.
  • Select a material from the Coolant Database.
    1. Click Apply/Edit Coolant.
    2. In the Coolant dialog box, select Default Database or User-defined Database.
    3. From the Coolant Database tab, select a material.
  • From the list of recently used materials, select a material.

Assigning Material to a Mold

To assign material to a Mold domain:

In the PlasticsManager , right-click a Mold or Virtual Mold domain, and do one of the following options.
  • Click Apply/Edit Metals, and select Default Database or User-defined Database. From the Mold Database tab, select a material.
  • From the list of recently used materials, select a material.
