Getting Started with SOLIDWORKS Plastics

If this is the first time you are using SOLIDWORKS Plastics, you must activate the SOLIDWORKS Plastics Add-In.

  1. Click Tools > Add-Ins.
  2. Under SOLIDWORKS Add-ins, select SOLIDWORKS Plastics.
  3. Select the Start-up box next to SOLIDWORKS Plastics to ensure that it loads the next time you start SOLIDWORKS.
  • Open the New Study PropertyManager from the SOLIDWORKS Plastics CommandManager to create a new study to perform a simulation.
  • You can access the application tools using the PlasticsManager or the SOLIDWORKS Plastics CommandManager.
  • Tutorials are available to teach you the functionality of the SOLIDWORKS Plastics, before taking a formal training course. In the Plastics CommandManager, click Settings and Help > Tutorials.

The first tutorial, Filling a Plastic Part, demonstrates a very simple workflow of filling a mold cavity with a polymer material.
